Marisa is an artist-writer living and working on Jagera and Turrbal Country. They are concerned with how to artfully navigate contemporary oppressions that implicitly affect how our social and material landscapes look and feel. To do so, they draw broadly from critical and aesthetic theory, underpinned by qualifications and employment in art and social work. They are currently undertaking a PhD at the Queensland University of Technology, researching the aesthetic and phenomenological dimensions of contemporary capitalism.
FULL SATURATION is a collection of slow writing that explores creative practice in a system that has absorbed it. It is for anybody who is interested in the aesthetic dimensions of capitalism, who is working in the arts, or who is participating in cultural changemaking.
The artist-run-initiative currently known as BVAA (Brisbane Visual Arts Advocacy) was founded in 2020, reviving again in 2022 with Noam O'Reilly and Amelia McLeish. BVAA supports and advocates for an artist-led, artist-centered and artist-first industry.
